Support Elo Tammi in her Ministry (posted October 2008)
Our Elo sister Tammi Jordan is currently preparing to go into ministry to serve overseas as a missionary in Cape Town, South Africa for two years through the IMPACT Movement. There she will share Christ with students at the University of Western Cape and people in the local communities through various outreaches and service projects. Currently God is preparing her team for South Africa to ultimately influence all of Africa for Christ!
How do you take care of yourself? (posted August 2008)
In this session, we had a great time of self-reflection, self-inspection, and self-discovery. We admitted that while we consider taking care of ourselves to be a definite priority, we rarely to take the time to do it. Sometimes overwhelmed by school and job responsibilities, caring for children and aging parents, church and community obligations, as well as general concerns for others, we tend to place ourselves at the bottom of our own "To Do" lists. In fact, a few ladies suggested that if we are truly doing the "work of the Lord" and putting others first, then we should not reasonably expect to have sufficient time for ourselves. And, at least one sister pointed out that, from her perspective, various acts of pampering oneself seemed a bit superficial when she considered the bigger picture of life and living and all of the things that could be done with the "extra" money. What do you say?
As the session progressed, we came to the consensus that when we speak of taking care of ourselves, not only are there several categories which we must address, ncluding physically, emotionally, socially, intellectually and spiritually, but that these categories frequently overlap. However, we discovered a gap. We quickly realized that there existed a familiar gap between "knowing" and "doing!" Consider this: When asked how important it is to take care of ourselves, most of the ladies (actually all except one) responded with a 10 or higher on a scale of 1 to 10. Yet, when asked?on a scale of 1 to 10?how well they take care of themselves, or if they took the time to take care of themselves, the same ladies responded with an average of about 4 with some even giving ratings of 0 and 1.
So, where is the gap between seemingly understanding the importance of doing something and actually doing it? I think it lies somewhere in the decision making process. That is, we must make a decision to take care of ourselves and hold ourselves accountable to following through. We stated on several occasions throughout Summit that a decision is the "elimination of all other options!" What does that mean? Well in this case it means that not taking care of ourselves is not an option. After all, how will we truly understand how to take care of someone else if we haven't learned how to do it for ourselves? Who would you choose?an out of shape physician that smokes, overmedicates, makes poor food choices and admits to never working out? Or one that is healthy, vibrant, knowledgeable, and full of life? Do you seek math assistance from a friend who knows what to do? but just doesn't feel like it (and, consequently receives D's in math) or from a friend who has a record of success in Algebra, Trigonometry, and Calculus? And who would you look up to? An Elo sister who was prayerful, positive, balanced, and modest, Or one who was argumentative, pessimistic and negative, but really knew better?
Now I know that making a decision is not always as simple as it sounds, sometimes we're just not ready yet. There can be deeper issues that must first be dealt with; issues that block our hearts, minds, and spirits from making the best decisions for ourselves. For instance, while some ladies in the session were simply residing in the realm of procrastination and (dare I say) laziness as it concerned taking care of themselves, others were dealing with deeper issues of self-esteem, identity, self-love and the overall destructive feelings of unworthiness. But in the end, we all agreed that the act of taking care ourselves is a vital and spiritual endeavor. It is not an option, but an imperative. If we are to present our bodies a living sacrifice unto the Lord, holy and acceptable, and if this is our reasonable service, then we must be good stewards over the unique temples with which God has blessed us. We must keep in mind that because we are made in the image and likeness of God, we have been given the power over all flesh to make right choices and that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us!
Therefore, let's begin (or continue) our journey with a few of the tips that we created for ourselves during the Summit session. Decide today to commit to a few of the following:
Eat more fruits and vegetables daily
Exercise regularlyat least 30 min. a day, three times a week
Get adequate sleep six to eight hours a night for adults
Take at least two uninterrupted hours of "me" time once a week
Learn to say "no"
Read a good book
Buy yourself something new
Fellowship with friends and sisters
Be honest with yourself
Go to the spa
Come to Summit in July 2009
Take care,

Tuning Into The Frequency of the New Kingdom (posted March 2008)
We have entered into a NOW SEASON, a period of prophetic fulfillment in 2008. The Year of an Open Heaven, where a NOW GOD is present and available. You no doubt have heard 2008 proclaimed as a time of new beginnings for the body of Christ as a whole, but what new beginning has God spoken concerning YOU?
While God is speaking to Elogeme corporately, He is speaking to each of us Heart to Heart, individually and personally. If we tune in, we will hear what God is speaking to us personally and tap into what He is speaking globally. Are you tuned in to the Frequency of the Kingdom?
As we entered the new year we sought the Lord during our 21 days of fasting/prayer, God spoke concerning new beginnings, new blessings, new anointings, new doors opening, new gateways into the marketplace, new divine favor as we carry out Kingdom Business. If we will seek first the Kingdom and His righteousness we will experience a new gait (a new walk). No more limping along Kingdoms Road, but running through troops and leaping over walls as He strategically guides us, directs us to new levels of Kingdom dominion and power.
He admonishes us to tune into the (UKF),the Ultra Kingdom Frequency where we can hear the very heart of God concerning us and His Kingdom. Until NOW you may have been accustomed to tuning into a lower level frequency where reception was not clear, but just as the popular culture has moved from VHS to digital or High Definition frequencies, God has called us to a Higher Level to a Higher or Ultra Frequency of the Kingdom. He is asking, Can You Hear Me Now??
Recently my husband (Uncle Larry) and I were traveling in another state and were in need of direction. When he tuned in to his GPS (Global Positioning System, the operator immediately responded (Im always amazed when the operator greets us specifically by name): Hello Mr. Hendricks, defining our present location and offering specific instructions and directing us to our destination. How much more can our heavenly Father who designed His own GPS SYSTEM and can zero in on you, wherever you are, whatever your situation, and respond to your individual need; provide divine instruction and direction to each of us without confusing us with anyone else on the planet and ultimately guides us to our destination. Just as the GPS System works in any weather conditions anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, our Father hears our faintest cry and answers our requests for divine instruction and provides a lamp for our feet and a light for our pathway directing us and ordering our steps along this Kingdom Highway. Is.35:8 A highway shall be there, and a way and it shall be called The Way of holiness...
